A few weeks ago I came across an offer on Facebook to receive a free photobook from Saal Digital, a German company that is now trading in the UK, in exchange for my review of the experience. Like some other online photo ordering services you can download some free software from their website in order to design and create your book. This ability to work offline is a great advantage in my opinion. I like to spend some time making the layout and design be just the way I like, and especially so in regards to being able to customise the layout to suit my own tastes and selection of photos. Initially I wasn't quite comfortable with using their software as I am a long-time Mac user and very familiar with Adobe software and the tools and conventions that go along with those two platforms. The Saal software has more of a PC look to it, but I have to admit that it only took me about 10 to 20 minutes of getting used to their software's tools and look. Eventually, I was completely won over once I figured out the flexibility as a well as simplicity in they way their software works.
After designing the book which was lots of fun to do, the ordering process could not have been more simple. The software uploads the images for you, the payment is via Paypal and it only took a couple of minutes to work through the options. They also included an online version of my book which is a nice way of previewing the result. My book was delivered 2 or 3 days later and I was delighted with the result. The packaging, the materials, the paper, the finish, the colours of the photos - all of these aspects of the book are nothing less than top quality. I have been showing my book to my tango dancing friends who are all very impressed which is leading me to think about the possibility of producing some more tango photo books.
Thank you to Saal Digital for your offer. I am extremely pleased with the experience as well as the result and I shall look forward to using your services again in the future.
