The summer's nearly over. Did it ever arrive, what with floods, Foot and Mouth and the frantic scrabble to get the kids back to school? Well we at Act4Africa think it's time for a laugh so we're heading back to The Comedy Store in Manchester on Monday 15th October for No Laughing Matter Mk III with a fantastic line up.
This time we're joined by "Mock the Week's" Frankie Boyle, City Life “Comedian of the Year”, Vince Atta, Ricky Gervais's favourite comedian, Adam Bloom and the irrepressible Martin Bigpig, back from his 3 Peaks Challenge.
Said Frankie Boyle,
“I’ve been friends with Martin Bigpig for a long time and I know he’s mad about the work of Act4Africa – you’d have to be to go and climb mountains in the middle of bombscares, torrential rain and thick fog with a group of mad arse comedians for the sake of a charity. I may not be up for the physical challenges but it’s great to be able to put on a show like “No Laughing Matter” and know that you’ll have made a real difference to the lives of young Africans.”
He continued,
“We’re all too quick to complain about the state of the education system in this country. Education really can mean the difference between life and death in Africa, but it doesn’t come free and only the wealthy can access it. The charity is doing fantastic work in delivering Aids Prevention Programmes to some of Africa’s most vulnerable young people and ensuring that they learn the truth about Aids and how to protect themselves from it.”
Tickets to the comedy night are only £10 (£8 for students) if you buy them direct from Act4Africa. Call Joanne on (0161) 945 1435 for this fantastic night of fun and entertainment, complete with charity auction of prizes that money CAN buy.
Note for Editors/Producers
Act4Africa is working with The Comedy Store in Manchester, staging a series of “No Laughing Matter” Comedy Nights to raise money towards the charity’s 1 Million Lives + Campaign. The charity has pledged to fund Aids Prevention Education Programmes for over a million young Africans by World Aids Day (1st December) 2008.
