“No Laughing Matter” Comedy Night MK II!
Robin Ince, Sully O’Sullivan and Tamika Campbell
Join the Fight Against AIDS
Fans of great live comedy have already raised nearly £6000 for Act4Africa following a sell-out comedy night in April… and now, “No Laughing Matter” is back!!
Top of the bill is the fabulous and surreal Mr Robin Ince. This softy southerner, one of the UK’s most prolific comedy writers, with credits on “Have I Got News for You”, “8 Out of 10 Cats”, “The Sketch Show” & “V Graham Norton”. Having toured with Ricky Gervais, starred in “The Office” (series 1) and been a guest on too many TV shows to mention, he’s renowned as the comedians’ act of choice. Somehow he always manages to take his audience right to the edge and then, just as you think they might topple, he snuggles them back down into their seats with a mars bar and a mug of cocoa – ah, bless.
Also on the bill is New Zealand’s finest, (and one of the most exciting acts seen in years), Sully O’Sullivan who takes improvisation into a whole new stratosphere. With, “booming self confidence and no nonsense delivery” this multi-award winning Kiwi takes “Whose Line is it Anyway” to the darkside! An absolute marvel. Bound for greatness on this side of the pond too.
Bringing a little relief to all this testosterone comes American Minx, Tamika Campbell, who spent 3 years cutting her comedic teeth in Germany of all places? (If you can make the German’s laugh………?!) For starters she was born and raised, the eldest of 8, in a religious sect in deepest Brooklyn. Career-wise there’s not much she hasn’t tried her hand at – well, other than the world’s oldest profession! Whether it’s carpentry, catwalk modelling, teaching, real estate, writing and dance - you name it, she’s given it her best shot.
So, if you fancy kicking off the month with a fantastic night out, whilst giving yourself a real reason to feel good about yourself (every £1 raised will give a young person in Africa the chance to participate in an Aids Prevention Education Programme run by Act4Africa), head on down to The Comedy Store on Monday 4th June.
Just by being at the gig you’ll potentially have saved lives.
